ABOUT
Fergus #135 F&AM is a Masonic Lodge operating under The Grand Lodge of Georgia. Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.
A Brief History of
Fergus #135 F&AM
Fergus #135 F&AM was chartered on October 30, 1850. The lodge gets its name from the middle name of its first Worshipful Master, William Ferguson Kennedy.

The lodge predates the city of Loganville and has the community of Buncome on its charter. The lodge room was originally on the site at McElvaney's Mill until moving to a building on the site of the Old Methodist Cemetery in 1863.

During Sherman's March to the Sea in 1864, raiders destroyed the building and all lodge property save for the charter which was absconded with. The charter was found along the banks of a creek in Cherokee County months later by a Mason who returned it to Worshipful Master J.T. McElvaney. Owing to the fine quality of parchment and the superior ink used on the charter, it is still legible and proudly hangs in the lodge room. Wrinkles and mudstains gathered on its trip from Loganville to the banks of the creek in Cherokee County and back again can still be seen.
